A Call from Within

Growth through each stage of life shapes us through diverse events and experiences. Some moments pass quietly, while others—even if they occur only once—leave profound traces on our emotions. Gradually, these experiences cultivate an inner drive, transforming into a voice that resonates within the mind.

At times, it merely wishes to whisper, yet finds no one to listen. At other times, it longs to cry out at full volume, but there is no space in which it can be expressed.

This series of sculptures serves as a transformation of that inner voice into physical presence. It echoes vulnerability, pressure, perseverance, and longing. These voices do not disappear; instead, they are conveyed through form, surface, and mass—becoming a sculptural language that opens space for emotions to speak.

Thanaporn Nartwanitchayakul (b. 1974, Bangkok, Thailand) is a sculptor whose practice focuses on monumentality, historical representation, and Technique precision in large-scale public sculpture. He studied at the College of Fine Arts, Ladkrabang, before receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) and Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Sculpture from Silpakorn University.

His practice is deeply rooted in academic sculptural training and has contributed significantly to major public monuments in Thailand. Since 2005, he has been involved in the enlargement and production of numerous royal and historical sculptures, including monuments of King Naresuan the Great (Lampang and Chiang Rai), Prince Mahidol of Songkla (Trang), King Chulalongkorn (Phichit), King Vajiravudh (SCG Headquarters), and King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX Commemorative Park, Bangkok). He also contributed to the Monument of the Great Kings (Rajabhakti Park) in collaboration with the Fine Arts Department.

His expertise lies in sculptural modeling, enlargement processes, and the translation of historical figures into enduring public forms. His work reflects a strong engagement with national identity, collective memory, and the role of sculpture in public space.

In 2012, he received an Honorable Mention at the 2nd Phet Yod Mongkut Sculpture Competition (Buddha Sculpture Category), further affirming his contribution to contemporary Thai sculpture within both traditional and institutional contexts.
