Blurred Voices, Forming Identities

“The blurred and distorted faces of children in this body of work reflect the fragility of identity and the psychological condition of young people growing up in a rapidly changing world. Children today are shaped not only by external forces, but also by the uncertainty within their own inner lives.

The absence of clearly defined facial features suggests identities still in formation molded by expectations, overwhelming flows of information, and the accelerating rhythm of contemporary life. These indistinct visages embody a state of becoming rather than being. Beneath this ambiguity lies a voice: the honest and immediate voice of children attempting to communicate with the world, not yet refined into the structured language of adulthood. At the same time, adults often struggle to listen, creating a subtle yet profound gap between generations.

The merging and fragmenting colors evoke layered emotional states that coexist within the process of growth—confusion, curiosity, vulnerability, and resilience.

These blurred faces do not signify disappearance, but rather an open space, an invitation for understanding, empathy, and dialogue between children and adults in an ever-changing world.”

Palut Marod (b. 1972, Nonthaburi, Thailand) is a contemporary artist whose practice explores the interconnected relationship between human beings, nature, and inner consciousness. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Fine Arts from Silpakorn University, Thailand, and was later awarded scholarships for artistic research and study in Italy, France, India, and China.

His works have been exhibited internationally across Europe and Asia, including Romania, France, Lebanon, Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, India, and Thailand. His paintings have also been presented at major international auction houses, including Christie’s and Sotheby’s Hong Kong.

Selected solo exhibitions include Spirit of Nature (2009), Mystery of Angel (2009), Spirit of Women (2012), The Secret of Devil (2016), Unfold (2021), and Searching in Mind (2022), held at leading galleries and art spaces in Bangkok.
