This reflects existence under the weight of a society driven by the desire for flawlessness. Yet, in the hidden corners of the world, many find themselves with few paths to take. Reality may never offer solace, but it holds a strange beauty, nonetheless. Love and hope must persist; unyielding to the winds and rain, if there is breath, it is sufficient for the flowers to bloom with defiant grace.

Asst. Prof. Sorayut Duangjai (b.1973, Bangkok, Thailand) is a Thai artist and academic, currently serving as a faculty member at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT). He earned both his bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Thai Art from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University. This academic foundation has been pivotal in his mastery of blending traditional Thai identity with contemporary artistic contexts.

Following a period of profound intellectual cultivation, Sorayut embarked on a journey deep into the spiritual essence of the past. He discovered true inspiration within the ancient temple walls of Northern Thailand. To him, the peeling pigments and fading murals weathered by time are not signs of decay, but rather a “Chronicle of Life” waiting to be reinterpreted.

In a world racing toward modernity and often forsaking its roots, Sorayut chooses to pause and listen to the whispers of these ancient walls. He believes that the pure love and faith invested by ancestral creators represent a powerful, ultimate truth. For him, unadulterated simplicity is the pinnacle of beauty—a beauty he seeks to “reclaim” and transpose onto the canvas within the new discourse of contemporary society.

With decades of experience, Sorayut has consistently showcased his work in both national and international arenas. His art has been selected for exhibition at prestigious galleries in the United States and Australia. Notable highlights include his solo exhibition “Trace of Thoughts” at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Los Angeles and the group exhibition “REFORM” at Prince Street Gallery in New York City. Beyond his personal practice, he is a driving force behind the RMUTT International Art Workshop & Exhibition, a continuous project dedicated to bridging traditional Thai artistic wisdom with the global art community.
