BIO ARTIST (TH)
Arnut Samakkee (b. 1995 )

Arnut Samakkee is a Thai contemporary artist whose practice brings together oil painting, classical imagery, and the visual language of street art. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the School of Architecture, Art, and Design, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Bangkok, in 2018.
Arnut’s paintings explore the relationship between the past and the present by reinterpreting historical and classical imagery through a contemporary visual language. Traditional painted figures and references are layered with spray paint, typography, graphic symbols, expressive marks, and graffiti-inspired elements associated with contemporary urban spaces.
His works often create a visual tension between the refinement of traditional painting and the spontaneous, energetic character of street culture. Rather than treating historical imagery as something fixed in the past, Arnut transforms it into an active visual language that can engage with contemporary society, culture, and everyday experience.

His exhibition history includes the solo exhibition Vahana at Palette Artspace (2026), as well as group exhibitions including Mango Art Festival (2025–2026), Aetas Art Chapter 2 (2025), and 404 Error: Art Not Found (2025). His work has also been featured in the UOB Painting of the Year exhibition.
Through his ongoing practice, Arnut continues to develop a distinctive dialogue between past and present, classical painting and street culture, history and contemporary life, transforming familiar imagery into new visual experiences.
